Name: IWU Hosts Intercultural Experience Event
Date: November 19, 2015
Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST
Event Description:

Indiana Wesleyan University is bringing the world to Marion on Thursday, Nov. 19 with its annual Passport to Culture exhibition that is expected to feature nearly 60 represented countries. Each country will host a booth and display its unique culture, food and music in order to cultivate a deeper understanding of global and domestic diversity. The event strives to present a variety of cultures in a genuine way that focuses on reconciliation, diversity, equity and justice through art, performances, experiential simulations, food and conversation.

“Passport to Culture is an incredible opportunity to create bridges and stories that help us understand ourselves and each other, here and around the world,” said Lena Crouso, director of Intercultural Student Services & Academic Development (ISS & AD). “It changes ‘us’ and ‘them’ into ‘we,’ which is how we can come together as a voice for being unique and in unity at the same time reflecting God's kingdom diversity.”

Booths will be hosted by international students, peers who have studied abroad and others who are interested in educating the community about domestic and international cultures. Countries that will be represented include, but are not limited to:

Argentina

Bosnia & Herzegovina

Cameroon

China

Ecuador

El Salvador

Ethiopia

France

Germany

Haiti

India

Nigeria

Oman

Singapore

South Africa

Vietnam

“As Christians, we must remember that loving our neighbor reaches across our dorm hallways and streets, but also, whether we are aware of it or not, across oceans and continents,” said Lydia Flynn, ambassador coordinator for the ISS & AD.
