Tickets are on sale now for the Tuxedo Junction Big Band Concert and Dance scheduled to take place in Legacy Hall on Wed., May 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Honeywell Center. Enjoy the sounds of the big band era featuring vocalist Ellen Mock. Tickets are $5 per person. This event is sponsored by the Senior Outreach sponsors, Aperion Care, Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Centre, Dukes Memorial Hospital, North Woods Commons, Parkview Huntington Hospital, Parkview Whitley Hospital, Peabody Retirement Community, Premier Home Health Care, and Wynnfield Crossing Senior Community.
Tuxedo Junction is known for its big band sounds of the swing era and is the only regional big band group that has continued to perform for the past 41 years. Musicians from Peru, Logansport, Lafayette and Wabash make up this eleven member group. Swing tunes, ballads, smooth jazz and vocal arrangements highlight the versatility of the band. A dance floor is available for those who wish to “cut a rug” to the music.
Tuxedo Junction will perform as part of the Honeywell Center’s Senior Outreach Program, geared specifically for seniors. The program provides fun and entertaining activities that are presented at senior living facilities in a five-county region including, Wabash, Miami, Huntington, Grant and Fulton counties. Since the inception of Senior Outreach, over 2,500 active seniors have participated.
The Honeywell Center is north central Indiana's premier arts and entertainment facility with more than 3,000 events and 150,000 visitors annually. Concerts, conferences, charity galas, art exhibits, and educational outreach programs are among the diverse events at the Honeywell Center. All programs and activities are supported by gifts from individuals, businesses, the Indiana Arts Commission (a state agency) and the National Endowment for the Arts (a federal agency).
